Surviving Evidence (post-1945)

Situated with its rear to the Eastbourne-London railway line, this type 24 faces the River Ouse. With 3-feet thick walls, it has the number A275 painted on its blast wall in the doorway.

The doorway has a raised sill with a drainage hole, as a precaution against flooding; the surrounding ground is marshy in places.

The north-facing exterior wall has the remains of a stay cable for a nearby overhead power line embedded in it, and a modern Environment Agency Bench Mark (EABM) is also affixed to this side.

Brick shuttering is evident both internally and externally, the latter crumbling in places.
